Saw the coolest/most randomly organized museum today. It was in Heldenplatz, or Hero’s Square, across the street from the Kunsthistoriches Museum. We went to the Kunsthistoriches Museum last week and it was somewhat of a disappointment, because it was all paintings (which were interesting, but there were probably 500 of them and it gets old after a while,) a coin collection, and an AWESOME Egyptian and Roman collection. However, I thought that the ancient instrument collection and Armory, as well as a good amount of Klimt (who is my new favorite artist) was in there. News flash: he didn’t JUST paint "The Kiss." However, these collections were actually BOTH in this other museum.

Interior, Hofburg Palace. Recognize it? It was used in the film "The Three Musketeers"

After, Lindsay, Krissy, and I got Viennese Thai food. Delicious! Then we went to see Werther by Massenet. It was amazing, but the people around us were soooo rude. It was a big Rotary Club group of high schoolers. Ugh. First of all, a nice older couple got out of their aisle to let us in and some of them took their spots. Then as we were standing there, the people (the high schoolers) in front of us were sitting almost on our feet and refused to move. We didn’t want to leave, because we thought they would take our spots. The usher, a nice older lady, came and told our little group (who had been relatively quiet except to whisper about the high schoolers) that we had to be quiet during the show, thinking we were part of the group. I could hardly concentrate through the first act because they were so loud. I’ve never heard people at the Staatsoper being so rude. :-( I made it a point to tell the usher lady that we were not with the group and, being serious music students, that we were quite upset with their behavior. Through the three acts, a lot of people left, though, so that was good.
