The Venice of the North

After booking our next hostel, we headed out to rent some bikes! Bikes are everywhere in Amsterdam, probably the best way to travel. For 10 euros you can have a bike for a full 24 hours. We got a bit lost, because every street suddenly starts to look the same after a while, and there are canals everywhere. Basically we wandered around in a big circle before we finally found the place.

I bought the Holland museumkaart which allows me to enter a whole bunch of museums in the country. But I'll only have time to go to two of them: the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. The Rijks was alright but it was pretty small cuz they were in the middle of renovations. But I saw some amazing Vermeer and Rembrandt paintings. Some of them were so intricate that I can hardly believe they were painted by someone's hand. I liked the Van Gogh Museum but it was also limited and undergoing renos. I saw his Irises, another Sunflowers, and Wheatfield with Crows. I wonder where Starry Night is though cuz that was a little disappointing.

Definitely got lost a few times...

Next I biked to the Albert Cuyp Markt. I can't explain it but I never get bored of visiting these little markets, there's always something to see! I did quite a bit of biking, and definitely got lost a few times. It's a compact little city, but very small, I'm definitely ready to head off to a new town. After returning the bikes, Cilly and went souvenir shopping, bought some Delft and some souvenirs of the Red Light District!

My computer is right next to a pit full of people smoking up, and the bar's getting rowdy so it's time to go!
