Surfing the Waves in Kuta

--woke up very early to catch the 8AM flight back to Bali... had to wake up the hotel staff to open the gate so that we could leave!  Taxi to the airport was cheap.  It was a TINY airport, but had good shop and Wez and Rosie got a few last-minute gifts

--The plane finally boarded and it was a pretty small prop plane and when it was flying, it flew EXTREMELY low to the ocean.  I joked that it was so close, it didn't even need to be airport... just a run and jump off the side of Lombok and it would hit Bali... pretty much.  Only about 20 minutes in the air.  Well worth the $40 CDN!

--When we arrived in Bali, it was like being home.  Denpasar airport is great.  Very tourist kitchy, but still everything I love about Indonesia.  We walked all the way around to departures, so that Wez and Rosie could check in for their flight, departing later that afternoon.  Wez's flight was at 1PM, so he had no problem, but Rosie was unable to check-in because her flight wasn't until 4PM

--We took a cab to downtown Kuta -- only about 10 minutes away from the airport, VERY convenient -- and hit the backpacker area.  The roads were amazingly narrow and the cab could barely fit through!  We settled on the first hotel the driver brought us to, a whopping $15/ night, but the pool looked nice and the room at A/C, so we stuck with it.

--We all dropped our bags and took off to the streets, to find DVDs and souvenirs for Wez and Rosie, who were leaving us far too soon.  Wandered around a bit, finally found a DVD place.  Spent over an hour picking out DVDs -- filling up whole baskets full... I had over 100 picked out.  The problem was price.... more on that later

--By the time the DVD saga was complete, it was just time for Wez to leave.  We stuck him in a cab and said a teary good-bye...very sad.  Rosie, Liz and I then sat on the beach and watched the surfers.  GREAT beach

--Shower for Rosie, then lunch then good-bye to her too!

--Seemed like a quiet afternoon, first one for just Liz and I in awhile.  Did internet, but none for me, so I roamed the streets and came upon another DVD place that was much cheaper and finally bought my collection.  Bit of drama there too

--Dinner at local place that was super good.  then bed

--Next morning early start... good hotel brekkie... because Liz had her surfing lesson! I didn't do it too because of my eye.  I read the newspaper for a bit, then walked around on my own.  Strange to be alone.

--Walking to the beach to see Liz surf, ran into Rachel -- small world, very random -- so sat with her, then ran off to find Liz.  Watched and laughed at Liz for awhile, then went back to Rachel, then back and forth until finally I had to head back to the hotel to meet our late check-out

--After we check-out, we met Rachel again for lunch.  That was nice.  Walked around with her a bit.

--Basically kicked around until our flight at 8PM, on-route to Singapore
