Having fun but walking loads in sunny but cold New York.

Tuesday: Headed downtown to Ground Zero and Battery Park - Ground Zero has turned into a cross between a tourist attraction and a poignant shrine to those who died there. Went for a walk along the waterfront and caught our first glimpse of the Statue of Liberty.

Wednesday: Uptown to Central Park via Times Square - didn't see the coyote that was on the loose that was on the news that morning but had a nice stroll. Later took part in an attempt to break the world record for the largest coconut orchestra organised by Monty Python's Spamalot stage show. Ask us later but safe to say we are officially record breakers now.

Thursday: Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island - today we took a boat to Liberty Island and neighbouring Ellis Island where millions of immigrants arrived to become US citizens. By this time we were dead on our feet as we'd walked down from central Manhatten. Now in Burger King having a Coke and writing this blog. We're now off to sample the delights of a bar on the waterfront which promises apricot beer amongst others.

Catch you soon - sorry no pictures yet. We'll have them soon..

Hey! Was just thinking of you two yesterday! Glad you're enjoying NY. Check out Katz Deli (205 East Houston St) for the best chilli with saltine crackers. Delish. Anna x

Hi guys So have you seen him yet? Have you? Have you? You must have seen someone famous by now - NYC streets are littered with stars. There must have been a movie star co ordinating the coconuts? Glad you're having fun despite the blisters- been thinking about you both. Isn't Katz Deli where Meg Ryan had her 'moment' in When Harry Met Sally? I'd watch out if I were you....

Hi Diane Glad to hear you made it. Wendy has been in Malta all week with Fred. Just having a little break. It must have been strange walking at ground zero. I hope you have seen some film stars while strolling around. I wonder if its been as cold here as in NY. Cant wait to see some pics. Enjoy

Dead on your feet? Have another beer, it'll numb the pain. Took mum back to Old Orleans today for mother's day...had to try something else on that delicious menu, so thanks for the tip! Spent the rest of the day watching Maiden's Death on the Road DVD...you can borrow it when you get back if you want Jon!
