We arrived late in Jerantut so stayed a night there before going to Kuala Tembeling Jetty. Where we got a long tailed boat to The National Park, It took us 6 hours to reach there, it should have only taken  4 hours, Probably something to do with the engine which kept breacking down and the fact that we manged to spring a leak and were bucketing water out. There is now a road that goes there but we thought it would be a better experiance to enter by boat, it certainly was an experiance. When we arrived we were supprised how busy it was we decided to camp just outside the park to save money. Taman Negara is claimed to be the oldest rainforest in the world  covering 4343 square kilometres.  Unfortunatley  we found that because of tourism the area around the entrance was quite dammaged and littered, The trails were frequently walked and as a consequence very muddy, and the begining of most trails was a plastic boardwalk for a kilometer or so which was very noisy to walk on (not sure what idiot thought that would be a good idea). We did see some good birds here including, Great Argus, Crested Firebacks, Black-thighed Falconet and Oriental pied hornbill. Other than treking we also did the Canopy walkway (which emily said was really scarry) which went up to 100ft high, unfortunatley because of the amount of people we had to cue up for half an hour even though we set off early that morning. It was incredably hot here we both got burnt and in hind sight it would of been better to do frasers hill after Taman negara. We decided to get a late bus back to Jerantut (Ian had a bit of a sinking feeling and didn't fancy the boat back). We then got a night train back to KL and then a train the following morning to Penang where we stayed again for a bit, Ian got ill again and we sorted out our 2 month visa for indonesia.
