Day 6

This was supposed to be a Free Day but we all decided to fill it doing something, either laundry, internet, shopping, hiking, mountain biking or horse riding.

I started the day by heading into Banff to do some laundry (which Niels and Katherine looked after for me while I spent the afternoon horse treking around the foothills of the mountains. (Thanks guys!)

Rice anyone?

The trek was OK... unfortunately, we weren't allowed to move the horses any faster than a walk!!!! This didn't please me at all, having spent the previous few months at home riding horses to rebuild my confidence after taking a nasty fall a few years previously. Anyhow, the weather was great and the scenery was beautiful and Tomahawk (my horse) was a gentle soul, so I didn't complain too much!

I arrived back to camp to find Katherine and Niels hard at work making dinner for the whole group, using the left-over rice from the previous day - I happened to mis-calculate the portions needed and cooked enough rice to feed the whole campsite... twice over!!! The others arrived back shortly afterwards from their 'Iceline' hike; we all ate a very tasty dinner and sat around the campfire with a few beers relaxing.
