Hardcore Comic action...so hardcore, it's in Japanese and JODIE CAN'T EVEN READ JAPANESE! ps hardcore doesn't mean porn, it just means ultimate or beastly.

After a day of hardcore-shinkansen-ing, we arrived in Beppu, or Bep-pooooooo as they say here!  To be honest, we didn't find there was particularly much to do here other than making the most of the onsens around the mountains...we really just came here to stay in a Ryokan, and it was well worth it!

On the first night we stayed at Beppu Guest House which was only 1500yen per night; the entire place was stinking of fag reek but it was pretty comfortable and close to the train station.

Rock lobsters in l'onsen
Me eyeballing Jodie reading his manga book. It was as riveting for me as it was for him...or was it?!

The following night we stayed at Nogami Honkan Ryokan which had 5 on site onsens, 3 of which were private so we had a nice relaxing night becoming lobsters in the onsen.  Our room was amazing...it had a private shower and Japanese style toilet, and the traditional tatami floors with cute wee chairs and a table.  We got free tea and coffee there, and at night wee magical ladies came in to lay the futon-bed-things.  And we got hilarious Yukata to wear.  I think we had the comfiest sleep so far in the Ryokan...YAS!
