Hong Kong - Shopping Mecca and our last stop in China.
From The 'I can't believe we are doing this' Trip in Hong Kong, China on Jun 21 '06
Arrived into Shenzhen at lunch time and walked to the Hong Kong border which appeared to be situated in a sort of shopping centre..... After passing through both sets of border controls we took the KCR train to Kowloon (first class no less - Lee was very surprised to be called a 'First Class Adult'). Took a taxi from the station to the hotel which cost around HKD33 - thank you Brett.
After some time to familarise ourselves with the city, we met the rest of our group at 8pm outside the Star Ferry Terminal to watch the amazing skyline of Hong Kong Island. The huge tower blocks have a light and music show each evening which was amazing to watch.
indian meal to a very small restaurant situated in the infamous 'Cheung King Mansions'.
We then went to an indian meal to a very small restaurant situated in the infamous 'Cheung King Mansions'. The restaurant must have had around 20 seats but served the best indian food I have tasted.
After dinner, we all took the Star Ferry across the water to Central for some drinks - very nice but very expensive. Had a lovely night and waved goodbye to some of our new friends!
Spent the next day taking the Star Ferry to Central and took the rail to Victoria Peak - what an amazing view. Had a beer and admired the view of the harbour before spending the afternoon shopping in Kowloon.
Also managed to find some English newspapers and magazies - bliss to have something to read.
