Was kostet denn so ein Jahr Spass?

Nun ist Abrechnungszeit gekommen. Kontoauszüge anschauen und die Wahrheit des Buchhalters erkennen. Ich bin 20% über Budget. Weshalb? Weil ich kein Around-The-World Ticket gekauft habe - wäre eine Einsparung von rund 3-4000 CHF beim Transport. Weil ich insbesondere in Argentinien und Paraguay billiger hätte leben können - Einsparung rund 2000 CHF. Womit die Ausgaben dann unter Budget liegen würden...

Unterwegs hab ich ein seit 8 Jahren reisendes Pärchen angetroffen. Sie geben rund 1000 US$ aus pro Monat, also nochmals rund die Hälfte von meinen Ausgaben. Aber sie reisen sehr langsam was ihre Transportkosten massiv reduziert. Ich habe jeweils etwa die Hälfte meines Tagesbudgets in Busfahrten investiert - also geschätzt 10'000 CHF in diesen 13 Monaten (plus dann noch die Flüge und das Schiff)...

Das meiste Geld habe ich also in Transport investiert, womit ein guter Teil dieser meiner Ausgaben in Saudi-Arabien gelandet sein dürfte, die dieses Geld ihrerseits bald nach Andermatt tragen für - ebenfalls - touristische Dienstleistungen oder für eine Schweizerische Luxusuhr. So kommt das Geld das ich in die Welt getragen haben über den "Öl-Zyklus" wieder in die Schweiz. Und wieviel Geld bleibt also im bereisten Land für deren Dienstleistungen an mir dem Touristen? So abgeschätzt überraschend wenig, weniger als die Hälfte der Gesamtausgaben selbst bei einem Backpacker.

Time is money and now it is time to (ac)count (for) the money spent. The final accounting shows that I spent 20% over budget. Why? Buying an Around-the-World ticket I could have saved around 3-4000 CHF for transports. Furthermore, it would have been possible to live cheaper in Argentina and Paraguay - additional 2000 CHF saved. And so the expenditures are already below the budget again...

While travelling I met a couple that has been travelling for 8 years. They spend around 1000 US$ per month, hence, about half what I spent. I must say that I invested about half my daily budget in transport by bus - approximately 10'000 CHF in these 13 months (not yet including airplanes and the boat).

That means the majority of my money I spent on transport, which means a good share of these expenditures went directly to Saudi-Arabia. They then come to Andermatt in Switzerland and spend their money for tourist services and for Swiss watches. So a lot of the money I spent in the world comes back to Switzerland thanks to the "oil-cycle" and probably less than half of my expenditures remained in the countries visited - a surprisingly little amount although I was travelling as a (Flash-) Backpacker.

• Australien: ca. 70 CHF/d (super billig lebend ohne zu campieren/ living super-cheap without going camping)
• Argentinien: ca. 60 CHF/d (inkl. Spanisch- und Tangokurse)
