Warsaw
From Our Trip in Warsaw, Poland on Nov 30 '08

After the best train ride to Warsaw we ended up walking for way too long to find our terrible accommodation. We got there late so we quickly went and got some food and then had a pretty early night.
One of the main reasons we came to Warsaw was to see a museum about 'Warsaw rising' - the brave fight by the Polish to reclaim their capital from the Nazis. We we got there we found out that it closes on Tuesdays - the only day we would be in Warsaw. So instead we went and visited the old town which was restored after the war (85% of the town was wiped out after the failed Polish fightback). After this we went to a museum of Warsaw history. We thought it was going to be very small but it ended up being a massive and really informative place (probably too big). It had a great section on Warsaw during WWII and showed a video about the desctruction of the city.

Apart from the old town Warsaw is really a metropolis filled with skyscrapers and modern buildings. It was very different to everything else in Europe but still had a very unique beauty to it and had us longing for more of Poland but we were running out of time and had to move on.
