Thank you, Gulf Shores!

I was visiting my very favorite town, Gulf Shores, Alabama, over Labor Day weekend. I made the plans well in advance. Even though I was tracking Hurricane Gustav as it approached the Gulf Coast, I still planned to visit. I'm so glad I did. The town was beautiful, even in hurricane preparation.

Hurricanes are a way of life on the Gulf Coast, and I was so impressed with the local response by government officials and emergency management! If the storm had been worse, I would have stuck around to help with cleanup. But it was mild, with some wind and flooding. We evacuated, with calm and well informed officials giving us clear instructions and prompting.

Thank you, Alabama Gulf Coast, for keeping your head. I'll keep coming back, again and again, to the beautiful, friendly towns of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach!
