So I am in Ljubluana, the capital of Slovenia, now. I had a rough time getting here. The train from Vienna was fine. Six hours but it went by fast. I journaled, read and met the cutest old couple, Lucy and Leo, who are at least 70, but just started dating 2 years ago. They have both lived in Australia for the past 50 years, but Lucy is from Slovenia and Leo is from Austria. They immigrated to Australia when they were 20, but did not meet until recently.

Anyway, I got to Ljubluana and it was pouring down rain for the first time on my trip. I tried to find my hostel for more than an hour, with no luck. I asked directions but nobody seems to have heard of it. After awhile I was so mad, still raining at this point, that I decided if I did not stop looking then this would be my whole memory of the country, trudging through impossibly uneven cobbled streets with my bag in tow behind me.

I took the funicular up the big hill thing in town and explored the castle for awhile, again, would have been easier without the bag, but oh well. There was a beautiful view despite the rain. One really cool thing about this city is a bridge called the Dragon Bridge, it has these big statues of dragons on it. It looks cool.

So another 45 minutes of searching later I finally find it. All the is marking the entrance is a paper sign that says Most Hostel stuck on the wall on the side of the entrance, not even on the outside of the building, but inside the doorway on the wall. I met a girl, before I found it, about 3 blocks away who said she never did find it and gave up to find another hostel.

So I check in and tell the guy at the desk this thinking he might want to put up a slightly more visible sign. Despite the fact that I am soaking wet and tired I am not mean about it. He tells me, ˝No, we don't need that. Everyone can find us fine.˝Grrrrr

So I am off to explore some more, leaving my bag and my bad attitude here. (I decided to write a quick blog now because the internet is free, but there is only one computer and most of the other hostel people are out. So I thought I would use it when I could)

Happy Birthday Laurel!
