This morning we took a taxi/ van about 20 minutes to a fairly secluded beach to go kayaking and snorkeling.  There were 8 of us on the excursion, plus the guide.  He gave us some brief pointers about kayaking, then helped load us into the clear boats 2 by 2.  It was pretty cool to be able to see everything underneath us.  When the guides started to feed the fish, there were many different kinds swimming all around us, some were even well over a foot long.  The wind picked up on the way back to shore, which even caused one for the guides to topple on for a dip.  Back on the very rocky beach we switched gears to go snorkeling.  The guides walked us up the beach about 1/2 miles and we had to keep our shoes on due to the very rough terrain.  They had sandbags at the water's edge to make it easier on our feet to get in and out of the the water.  Snorkeling was beautiful.  The water was crystal clear and warm.  There were tons of fish and we even went by the mouth of a cave.  The current was pretty strong and we were very thankful for the use of the fins.  Some whinier people were tired when they got back from kicking too much -- life's rough!!!

There was a great little restaurant right on that part of the beach.  Nothing fancy, but the food was good and the tour included some free beers.  We had to go back to the ship in fours, so another couple gave up their afternoon to wait for us.  Overall it was a great excursion that we booked directly through Royal Caribbean.

There is shopping right on the dock.  All the sterling silver you could want, but very touristy and the prices reflect that.  There are much better places to shop for jewelry in Mexico than in the tourist "hot spots," but if this is your only taste of Mexico, it's not too bad.
