I knew things were going too well when the taxi arrived on time and we had a smooth run up to Heathrow. Lufthanse flight to Frankfurt delayed because of fog in Frankfurt meant a delay to take-off, this meant we missed our Chennai connection and had to be rerouted though Bangalore (in the running for the most boring airport in the world). A night spent on the hard metal seating in the arrivals hall at Bangalore did nothing for humour, but when we eventually boarded the early morning Jet Airways connecting flight to Chennai we foung the flight comfortable and the in flight service excellent.
Arrived Chennai airport 07:30 very tired, We were pleasantly surprised to see our luggage after the fiasco at Frankfurt, booked a prepaid taxi for Rs250 to the hotel and crashed out for a few hours.
Had a 4 hour tuk-tuk tour of Chennai for RS300 stopping off at T.Nagur and the Kapeli temple, traffic in Chennai is complete bedlam but seems to work somehow.
On our way out to dinner in the evening we stopped to look in on a wedding that was happening in the hotel function room and ended up being invited. Congratulations Hari and Ranjitha and thankyou Deepa for your fantastic hospitality it made our short stay in Chennai very special and such a fantastic way to start our trip.
