We had an event filled and a fun New Years Eve here in Thun.

After much deliberation, we decided a few days before New Years Eve to stick close to Thun and attend a party at an event hall here in Thun called the Mura-Halle.

Bringing in the New Year in Switzerland.

But before the evening, we spent the day walking around downtown Thun doing some last minute shopping, buying some Champagne, and then came back to prepare dinner.  Walter came over and had dinner with us.  Adriana and Pascal made us a traditional Swiss fondue with a twist.  Instead of cheese, they filled the fondue pot with hot water and bouillon.  And instead of bread, we dipped frozen meat into the water and boullion until it was cooked.  Then, the meat is dipped into various sauces like curry and BBQ.  It was delicious!

After dinner we toasted with some very nice Champagne that Pascal bought, then went into Pascal and Adriana's bar room in their flat and played a few games of darts.

A few hours after dinner it was time to head to the party.

We arrived at the Mura-Halle around 9:30 pm and the headline DJ was "Sir Colin" (one of Switzerlands top DJ's).  We were joined later by Adriana's younger brother and his girlfriend and we all had a blast, dancing and partying the night away.  The drinking age in Switzerland is 18, so I have to admit I felt a little like a grandpa surrounded by all the, "kids" but I somehow managed. :)

We headed home around 2 am in the new year (the party was within walking distance), and we treated ourselves by sleeping in until well after noon).

Later that night of Jan. 1st, Adriana made us an incredible dinner of homemade italian food, complete with lasagna and penne pasta.  It really hit the spot after a night of imbibing.

I've posted several pictures from the evening.

We are leaving tomorrow morning, and today we are going to a New Years family gathering at Pam's Aunt and Uncles, then we are off the Interlaken for the rest of the day.  Pam is going to go see her grandma one last time.
