I decided to go to Cabo San Lucas for vacation this year. I had enough frequent flyer miles to get here for free so I did. I rented a condo (via vrbo.com) for $70/nite at the Peninsula condominiums. This was the most beautiful place for what I paid. It was a one bedroom condo overlooking the Pacific.  It had everything I needed and was only about 10 minutes from the beach. It felt like home too..very cozy. I decided to stay in San Jose del Cabo since I was told that it is a more laid back town near Cabo. I highly recommend staying in this town. I didn't like Cabo downtown when compared to San Jose.

Downtown San Jose is just fantastic. Just a quaint town near the sea.  Lots of little trinkets and fire opals for sale here.  And great food!

"...my toe nail polish melted in the sand".

I highly recommend that you do not travel here in August. It was over 100 degrees everyday and it was unbearable outside. Luckily my condo had AC or I would have died.  My condo had a fantastic pool where I spent many hours in the blazing sun. But I only lasted abnout 45 minute outside.  If I had to go back it would be in the winter time. I couldn't wait to get back home to cool off.  It was the hottest vacation I've ever had and likely won't make this mistake again.

Middle finger forks I found at the grocery store. Not sure what you eat with them but it was my big purchase while in Cabo!

I went to the beach 2 times and the first time my toe nail polish melted in the sand.  Yes it was that hot. I had sand stuck on my polish for the rest of the trip.

I went to Cabo to see the famous Arch, lover's beach and other rock formations.    These formations were very close to the Marina and it only cost me $10 RT to see them.  This was a must see and the biggest draw for most people here.

Snorkeling was ok but not like Cozumel.  It was about a 30min bus ride ($2) from San Jose del Cabo and I had to stand the whole trip in the heat.

I made my food most days and went and bought about 10 avacados and made guacamole most days. I just made some quesadilla's with hot sauce with avacados.  I only spent about $60 for the entire week's worth of food.  Oh...be sure to stock up on your giant jugs of water at the Mega grocery store.  You'll drink about one of these every 2 days in the heat.

Cabo is by far the most expensive place in Mexico that I have traveled. I have been to Cancun, Isla Mujeres, Cozumel and Playa del Carmen but this place was very over priced.
