Journal Entry 10, London Calling - 18 September 2006

I have arrived! 23 years in the making and I have finally made it. It was the most amazing experience to fly over London Bridge and to finally step onto English soil. The flight across was great and the company was good. Oh and thank god for my UK passport, it saved me hours of stress coming through the dreaded Heathrow. Met family on exiting and was thrusted into the unknown as I drove home via London city to Kent. The history of London being a industrial super power was instantly recognized and my excitement for being in one of the greatest cities in the world was hard to control.

It's the first time in my life that I literally can not slow down.

It's hard to write a blog on London when I have spent so much time here and learnt and explored so much. The attractions are endless and a quote I once read stated "If you're bored of London you're bored of life". I think this explains London to a tee. I've visited so much including London Dungeons, Tower of London, National Museum, Tower Bridge, Leister Square, West End, The London eye, Covent Garden and I still haven't seen anything. That thought alone staggers me!

Oh on a different note. The Underground! WOW WOW WOW. When it works its one of the most unbelievable network of mazes and tunnels that can get you anywhere in London. When it doesn't god help the wrath that is brought down on you by the Londoners! It's a fantastic experience to be deep underground if not a little claustrophobic. The prices are high everywhere in London which I expected but was still mortified never the less. The city if full of chic sophistication, style and class orientated to the max. I love it! Coming from Perth which feels like a country town to London was and still is an eye opener everytime I step into the city. Something new everytime!

I ended up spending over 5 weeks in London working for Air Jamaica in Hounslow and earning the extra cash I need for my very first step in mainland Europe. Every weekend has been filled with parties, bbq, site seeing and it's the first time in my life that I literally can not slow down! Thank you London for kicking everything back into gear and I'm glad that I can call you my home at the moment and be apart of your life!

To be continued...
