On Tuesday we went to a local elementary school.  Our groups each talked about where we are all from and then just played some games with the kids.  We returned to Linnley Park to plant trees with the children.  We planted over four-hundred, more than any previous group.  The kids really enjoyed having us there so it was a good day.

Our discussion tonight was awesome.  We talked about being responsible tourists for the next two weeks, which I think is really important after everything we have learned in the last two weeks.  We also discussed bringing what we learned home.  It is really good to buy reusable shopping bags, something that is becoming really popular in New Zealand.  It i also really easy to conserve by turning of lights, using less water, and trying to waste less; composts are also excellent for the environment.  I have loved learning about conservation in the last few weeks and think I want a career in this field.

On Thursday we went to Avalon, an organization that helps disabled persons. We planted seedlings that they raise and ISV eventually plants.  We had lunch with them and then they gave us a tour.  They loved having us there and showing us what they do.  One of the women spoke to us afterwards about the difference we have made; she said this is the highlight of their month, she can already tell their confidence has risen and that they will never forget us.  Honestly, I was not looking forward to the day, but it turned out to be an excellent experience.
