Loon Song Cottage

On the Friday (14th) I picked up our hire car which we will rent for the next three weeks. After long deliberation I plumped for the car in the lot most closely resembling the Batmobile. Try as I might though, the closest I could get to flames coming from the exhaust, is smoke coming from the tyres as I left a rather worried looking rep in the car park. Early days yet though! So, later that day, the Bates' and the Goddards (Adam, Amy and Max) made our way from the city to Adam's dad's "cottage", Loon Song, three hours north in Parry Sound. Sitting on the edge of Otter Lake the cottage turned out to be nothing of the sort. Newly built and timber framed on 3 levels, this 6-bedroomed mansionette has its own boathouse and jetty and is just off Godddard Crescent, named after the grandfather who once owned a large part of the land surrounding the lake - so not exactly slumming it then. Both days Adam took me and the kids out on the motor boat exploring, and Stan and Archie both took enormous pleasure taking the wheel, and then sending us around and around in tight circles for what seemed an eternity until, green at the gills, the adults managed to regain control of both the boat and our sense of direction and make out way past many other smart lakeside properties, back home.

We've been in Canada for a week now and the rest of our trip stretches out in front of us seemingly forever. It still feels as though we are on a two week holiday and the amount of money we have spent reflects that. As 'chancellor' for the family these ten months I need to control the budget but I am prepared to be more relaxed until we go camping next week and then I will present my first budget statement and drastic cost saving measures will have to implemented. Don't they sell twins on the internet over here? Just a thought.
