Day 2 (Cycling Day 1) (Land's End to (Whiddon Moor) Okehampton)
FIVE GO ASTRAY IN LAND'S END
6am Rise - Pedal to Penzance like pirates. Cornwall asleep, cyclists awake. Driver awake, navigator on 4th can of strongbow. Plan (AGAIN !?!?!) - get a great pic of legendary signpost (JOHN O'GROATS 874 MILES) - AYE RIGHT !!! - nae post - erected at 10am apparently Cornwall very laid back - LONG STORY SEE PIC!!! Set off - Distance covered 0.15 mile Findlay waves merrily, Dom responds - Findlay waving harder - stark realisation - a chuffin' puncture - oh how we relish the prospect of the next 873.85 miles. Away we go!! TAKE 2. Cycle up a storm through the picturesque scenery (think chernobyl - but cloudier).

Let's at this point pay hommage to the navigator and driver who carefully plan each day. (I advise that you bear this in mind when you read on and you will get the drift)
Stop one - Place called Hale (humorously translated underneath as Hayle - like NY - they named it twice) - just to re-emphasise the famous parkhead chant. FOOTIE FANS ? A wee re-fuelling of malt loaf - water - malt loaf - banana - malt loaf (malt loaf = 2 for one pre-bought at costco) - NB I am typing this later on and there is still a bit from day one in Ally's teeth. Ade and Dom advised to speed on and await the arrival of the "kings of the mountains" - puncture numero dos - guess who ? yes, Findlay. "Cyclists" ignore advice of support vehicle to listen to a new "friend" in the Kings Arms pub and travel via the quiet road to void the traffic - oh, the new friend forgot to mention the 500 metre "bumps" - word of advice - Ade and Dom were there way before him and actually quite like you !! Get there EVENTUALLY ! Ally arrives in tears - blister a la derriere in tow!

Our evening meal takes us to Betty Cockles pub in deepest darkest Okehampton (Devon) - alledgedly, Betty Cockle was the name of one of Zia's lost loves - recommendations we take ;o) - great food - dined like kings, boys had supplements in their scrumpy - all set for the morn's morn.
