This weekend I went to Barcelona to visit Dan. It feels like the more I travel Spain, the more I am falling in love with this country. Barcelona is gorgeous. Since my flight got in at 1 am we didn’t do much the first night. On Friday, we walked around a lot and saw all of Gaudi’s architecture. I read how much he influenced Barcelona from a guide book, but I didn’t realize how much he truly impacted the city. I saw Casa Mila (a.k.a La Pedrera), Casa Batilo, La Sagrada Familia, and Hospital de Sant Pau. La Sagrada Familia is indescribable, especially with the fact that the construction of it is still not completed. There is supposed to be 16 towers (possibly long word) and as of now there are only 8. In the evening Dan, one of his friends and I hung out on his family’s roof deck ) and view is so nice. There’s a picture of the view at sunrise. It’s so cool because you are able to see the top of La Sagrada Familia. We also went to Parc Guell, which is filled with Gaudi architecture. I wish we went a little early because we went around 7:30 pm and as we were walking around the sun began to set. There’s this really cool part where you have a whole view of Barcelona. That was nice watch during a sunset. But we didn’t walk around to the parts that had Gaudi’s architecture until nighttime and a lot of it wasn’t lit up for some reason. When I go back to Barcelona in December, I want to go during the day so I can see everything better.
On Saturday we took a random day trip to Andorra, a small country between Spain and France. There really isn’t anything there. It’s more of a place to go if you want to go hiking or skiing because its so mountainous, but its really pretty. Fodor’s guidebook said that its the shopping capital of the world because there’s no tax, but its not that amazing. The only thing that is cheap is alcohol and cigarettes. Clothes are about the same price if not more expensive and electronics are normally priced.
