Why Is It So Hard To Get Out Of Town?
From Dix, Neuf, Huit...The Countdown To France in Colorado Springs, United States on Sep 04 '07
Well, I'm still in Colorado Springs, trying to prepare for my departure next week. This happens to me before every trip; the days leading up to it are full of lists and anxiety. I have nice neighbors, I have a cat sitter, I have a sprinkler system and I found someone to cut my grass...my house will be alright. Still I worry that Queenie will hate me for being gone so long, even though cats aren't like that. Have I paid my bills, stopped my mail, packed too much? (It reminds me of a card I bought once, a picture of pink polka dotted luggage on the front ,which read "I may have too much baggage, but at least it's a matched set".)
The leaving part is always hard. Once I am on that plane, I will be fine. Calm, confident, excited. The "knowing " that I really want this adventure, the "unknowing" of how it will unfold.
..."people travel for two reasons. One...to lose yourself,...the other to find yourself. I plan to do both."
I think people travel for two reasons. One is to lose yourself, and the other is to find yourself. I plan on doing both.
