Left my stinky hostel and got myself to Victoria Coach station for a bus to Oxford.  A remarkable traffic jam brought us over 2 hours later into the charm of Oxfordshire and the town center of Oxford proper where about 5 minutes walk got me to the YHA or youth hostel association hostel at which the very first and possibly only bit of luck occurred for yours truly when a reservation error got me a room of my own.  So for a mere 21pounds or 42 dollars I had a room with a non-functioning kitchen, two uncomfortable twin beds, a balcony with a slight view of the train station and all its incumbent noise and bath share just two doors away.  Cheers.

In about 30 minutes of walking I pretty much covered the basic layout of the college center of town.  It was a relief to be out of the overwhelming rush of London.  The sky opened a bit and the spires of Christ Church and the Balliol.  The Round chamber of the Sheldonian and the many other colleges whose images have appeared in numerous film and TV productions.  In fact one was being filmed at the Bodeian Library and thereabouts that night.

The day got colder and colder.  I finally ducked into a shop and hid out with a cuppa for a bit just to warm before dashing back to the hostel where I had left my hat.  I really miss my cap from Bunny which I had brought with from home.  I lost it on the street in Essaouira and now I truly need it.

Instead of hiding out in my relative luxury at the hostel I went out to a movie.  For the first time this trip I set through an entire film.  The Good German.  I was so grateful that Tobey McGuire got killed off really early as I thought he was very bad casting.
