A brief stop on the island of Penang

Now I am just trying to make my way to Thailand! I couldn't make it in one day from the Cameron Highlands so I'm now taking a quick break here before heading off again tomorrow into Thailand.

That being said I still have a fun time walking around the city of Georgetown (no resemblance to the place in DC where I used to work!) and exploring the surrounding area.

I met a really fun and interesting South African couple on the bus on the way to Georgetown from the Cameron Highlands. They were on a bit higher budget than I but we did meet up later that evening for dinner at a really great restaurant where they served Nonya cuisine. Tim and Sue ended up treating me to dinner, which was unexpected to say the least! I didn't think of it until after dinner that it was father's day and I should have treated them in honor of their children...but I did think to call my dad and wish him a happy day! I could have stayed another day to explore the island but I really want to head north and get into Thailand so after my brief visit to the island of Penang I am off in the morning via ferry boat to the island of Langkawi!
