A view from my mom's side of the camp area, the colors were just starting to show on our trip. The building on top of the hill is the abnormally clean pit toilet across from our camp location.

Our first full day of camping in Wisconsin was really relaxing and nice. It did rain most of the night, although our tent remained nice and dry, the patter of rain on the tent woke me up now and again. The rain finally stopped early morning, I think Alex and I woke up at about 9:00 am. Alex and I weren't habitually early risers on the trip, my mom and step-dad are. The morning was absolutely gorgeous, the sun was shining, there was no wind, and everything was just clear and crisp. We sat down with a cup of coffee and a great breakfast (my mom always makes the best camp breakfasts).

Alex really liked how red this particular tree was. This photo was taken across from our campsite on the other side of the toilet side (we had two back to back campsites here).

We got a little bit motivated to take a shower and get dressed. My least favorite thing about this campground are the showers. They're clean and all but they're pay showers, you have to put in a quarter at a time. I found myself usually dripping with soap and shampoo when my quarter ran out, I had to run over and put another one in to finish my shower. Actually, I had to put in about 3 more quarters, I'm not known for short showers.

We did finally buy our corkscrew and we also realized we forgot the all important camping staple, marshmallows.

The rest of the day was just as relaxed, we left the campground once to go to the grocery store. We did finally buy our corkscrew and we also realized we forgot the all important camping staple, marshmallows.

Later that evening we ate a nice dinner of steak (yum) and sat around the campfire. I did watch a little bit of tv (my mom likes to have one around for news in the morning), a couple of my favorite shows were on. Alex and I decided to try out our new camp cooker to make some "smores sandwiches". We used bread, chocolate, and marsmallows and toasted them over the campfire in the cooker, they came out quite nice. It was a perfect first day to our camping experience.
