Our boat ride from Batangas to Puerto Galero was pretty cool - a fantastic sunset was visible as we sailed across the sea. No sooner had we stepped off board the boat when a guy approached us and asked us to check out a brand spanking new resort that had just opened up called Sabang Hill Resort. We were literally the first guests to ever check into the resort so on account of that we got a great discount and were waited on hand and foot for the week - we felt like celebrities every time we stepped outside the door with all the attention we were getting!

Our rooms were on the 4th floor with a balcony view overlooking the pool down below and the sea - not bad to wake up to every morning! Between the chef Cookie knocking up some great BBQ dinners, to the waitresses Mia & Nancy serving us & the barmen Jeremy & Rhoy making sure we always had a drink in hand we didn't want for anything!

Needless to say I caused more than a few curious glances hanging out in there and even got propositioned one night.....I didn't stop to ask how much he was willing to pay!

Our two main venues for partying in were Broadway & Big Apple. Broadway is where all the local prostitutes hang out in the back room, dance on stage & try to get business. It isn't as sleazy as it sounds - the girls remain in their underwear or fully clothed and if a client is interested they take them home. I made good friends with one of the girls, Laarnie and ended up hanging out with her all week - going to the beach & partying after she had finished 'work'. She is the nicest girl & is only doing what she does to look after her son. She is only 22 herself and I think she enjoyed talking to me as I didn't look on her as a tramp like most western girls do she said. It was nice to have a girl to talk to with so many boys around! Needless to say I caused more than a few curious glances hanging out in there and even got propositioned one night.....I didn't stop to ask how much he was willing to pay!

We took in a boat trip to some nearby beaches and snorkeling spots one of the days which was fantastic. The water was crystal clear & our guide cooked us up one of the best lunches I have had - the tuna was to die for! The rest of my days were spent diving and I managed to get my Advanced Open Water course done. Basically meant I had to do 5 dives which were a wreck, drift, night, navigation & deep dive - all of which were fantastic.

I cannot complete my entry about Sabang Beach without mentioning my near death experience. I ventured into the town of Puerto Galero with Niall one of the days & after having lunch we went to cross the road. Thinking cars drive on the left hand side I looked the wrong way and stepped out onto the road. Before I knew what was going on I heard Niall shout, turned around and was literally face to face with an oncoming speeding motorbike. Luckily for me the devastatingly handsome hero that is Niall grabbed me and prevented me from falling. I did however get hit on the back of my legs at full speed by the tyres and have the bruises to prove it. Needless to say we made it to the nearest bar so that I could calm my nerves!

Didn't realise we had been sitting under an Irish flag all night!
