It's been a week and a half since me and mum arrived and I am only just starting to adjust to the time change and weather change now. It has been 40 degrees every day since we arrived here on June 11 and we have given up! We have no air con in the house and we fall asleep if we stay indoors for more than an hour.
Nea Vrasna is a really nice, quiet touristy place with heaps of outdoor cafe/ restaurants, umbrellas on the beach, bars and pictureque scenery.

I have heaps of family here and I have only started to meet them. Menia and Ioanna are my second cousins and we went out last night for drinks and the night before for dinner. They have a big group of friends (about 15 of them) and I have met 4 already. I have also seen my uncles and aunts and there families. It seems that everyone in this town is related to me somehow.
The food here isnt the best :( its really fatty- souvlakia with chips in it, meat off the spit, giant meat balls, everything is served with meat. I prefer vegetarian food but i dont think it exists here. Every morning we get tiropites (cheese pies) from the bakery or big donuts for breakfast. Everything is cooked with oil and a lot of food can be ordered with a cheese filling (yuck).

To try and combat the weight gain that we expect from eating all this food we have bought girly bikes with baskets and no gears. We dont go well uphill. My bike is metallic pink and mums is electric blue- the whole town recognises us.
On Tuesday we are going to the island Thasos for a day excursion with the KAPI- local oldies club! Apparently there will be 2 or 3 bus loads going because its only 15 euro (including bus, cruise and back again). I will be taking heaps of photos.
Sometime soon we will also be going to Chalkidiki- an area which is popular with tourists and has lots of beaches and bars. It will be a family trip with my mums cousin Lela and her kids Menia, Ioanna and Ari with their partners. The kids and in there mid to late 20's.
