Granada
From Journals of Latin America in Granada, Nicaragua on May 14 '07
Arrived at the pleasantlittle colonial town of Granada, releived to be back ina bustling LAtin American town not this US hybrids!Oh and its cheap again hoorah!
ENjoyed lying in hammocks and drinks nica libre in the warm sun. We attempted to climb the overlooking Volcano but with little joy as the price was high and well you had to wait at the top for ages, which the lady did not advise as it was foggy at the top so the view was minimal...big success! So we travelled back on the delightful 'chicken' buses..basically old US school buses which failed their MOT in the US so they have dumped them on the Central American population not sure who i feel more sorry for the American school kids or the travellers sat next to a large lady with perspiration visible all over carrying her favourate yappy dog...
After gourging on fresh mangoes and over indulgent tropical smoothies we had to get moving as Colin had to be in San Salvador and I had been persuaded by many people staying at the Bearded Monkey hostel to go to the Bay islands despite the 3 strains fo Malaria to go and Scuba Steve it for a few days!
