Today we nearly pack our bags and leave America.  As those of you following this blog may have realised we arent at our happiest here in the states.  We are still missing the peace and tranquility of Fiji, and we are finding it hard to adjust to being back on the road again.  I think me and Steve are pretty drained, this holiday, although has been brilliant, has also been very draining.  Its not easy looking after a newborn baby, or a 2 year old.  Throw into that 4 months of travelling in a confined space and you begin to see there are problems along the way.

The weather in Kingman, although cooler than Lake Havasu, is still unbearably hot.  Too hot for Matthew to play outside.  We have to keep the air-conditioning on in the RV during the day (at night it cools down a bit) otherwise we fry.

Matthew is also a bit cranky today, he is bored basically, and wants to be outside playing with a ball or on the beach.  Then to top it all off Steve tries to put away the roll-up awning and it jams.  A piece snaps off, and we then have several frustrating calls with the hire company trying to get it sorted. They wont admit liability, even when the engineer we call out tells them its a fault with the canopy, so we are $157 poorer, and have been sitting around Kingman all day.

On the plus side I get to spend some time with Matthew, playing with some of his new toys, and he cheers up a lot.  Me and Steve also have a good chat about what we want to do in the next 3 weeks, so having a breather has really helped us.  We did seriously consider ringing the airline and trying to get the tickets changed for this weekend, but we decide that we really must see this out, and that tomorrow will be a better day.  I also check out the weather where we are going and it seems cooler (though not in Vegas), so that should help.

I think everyone has days like this, days when you just want to roll back over and go back to sleep.  We are lucky, I dont think we have had many, and certainly this is the first time we have considered coming home early.  I think part of it also is that at present we are about 110 miles from Vegas, our departure point.  Its temptingly close.  But if we drive onto the Grand Canyon we will be driving away from it, just feels a bit depressing.

I know, you will all be shouting at me for being a nutter wanting to come home.  I'm sorry, I apologise for having such terrible thoughts!  We shall pick ourselves back up tomorrow and head onwards to the Grand Canyon, and hopefully some cooler weather.
