First Time in Vegas

Not much to say about Vegas. I met my dad there who was visiting for work and we stayed at the Luxor. As in my Reno blog, I largely avoided gambling save for the occasional penny or nickel slot machine. Ate lots of food at the buffets.  Walked around the Strip while my dad was in meetings, mostly just getting exercise and observing the sights around me. I had a grad school deadline, I remember, so I spent some time working on that.  All in all an uneventful trip!

It's okay that you don't gamble, but next time you should visit the Star Trek Experience exhibit. That's where my interest lies, anyway.

That remains to be seen, though next time I go I'm hoping to explore the surrounding area and do some hiking. I know there's a lot more to LV than the Strip!

Two suggestions if you want to explore outdoors around Vegas. 1) Nevada Commission on Tourism has an e-book online. Should have broadband connection to review. Search for anything -- from mellow nature walk to outrageous extreme sports: www.travelnevada.com/ 2) I have a page called VegasOutdoors. Lists lots of stuff from the Las Vegas Marathon and the Nevada Passage Adventure Competition (made-for-TV reality competition) to more traditional hikes and picnics at Mt Charleston, Red Rock Canyon, and Valley of Fire. www.squidoo.com/VegasOutdoors/ Robert editor@FirstTimeInLasVegas.com
