home of the moment for the special ladyfriend is triana, the old gypsy area of sevilla, a ten minute walk from downtown and half an hour to ian and noel and jean's place in the santa cruz district (the old jewish quarter).

highlights:

unfortunately, people dont use their s's here, which combined with the lisp makes it really hard to understand.  my spanish is mexican and lovely because of it, but regionally almost useless because of vocabulary and pronunciation.  oh well.

it rained the first two weeks but started getting really nice and springlike later on as the month went by.  did any number of things, mostly related to every day life of my student roommates (ie not going to class and drinking).  met some fabulous people who all speak english, minus the odd italian.  spanish is overrated anyway.

everything was under construction and muddy, but even by the time i left things were beginning to open up for semana santa and feria, the two biggest festivals in sevilla, which i missed both of.  again, oh well.

took the 7 hour bus to and from madrid, not too bad after the extensive journeys in south america.
