Today is our last day in Amsterdam...

Every morning starts with coffee & tea – our room has a really nice area for preparing our drinks. Yesterday we went to a bakery so that we could have breakfast in bed today. As we were preparing to leave the hotel we looked out the windows facing the front of the hotel and you can see that there’s a giant flee market atmosphere set up in front.

Today, April 30th is a National Holiday in Amsterdam – It’s the Queens birthday. On this day everyone celebrates the birthday by wearing orange for the House of Orange. We’ve decided to walk to the Museum area – there are outdoor concerts all day. We got to the area a little before noon – and the crowds began to grow to over 600,000 – it was really exciting – we saw several bands play before we decided it might be best to wiggle our way out to have a beer and lunch.

We stopped by Volenpark on the way back to the hotel and just relaxed near one of the lakes.

After we got back to the hotel – we spent some time talking to the Doorman – Richard. He told us that this hotel “the Amsterdam Hilton” is where Yoko Ono & John Lennon stayed on their honeymoon. He asked us if we were interested in seeing their suite – for sure, we said YES! … If you look at the words in pic 018 for those of you over 50 – you’ll remember that Beatles Song - anyway it was really cool that we got to see this room.

Tomorrow we catch the train to Paris – so, that means packing tonight and we’ll bid Amsterdam fairwell – this has been a nice place to visit.

Another Great Day as our European Journey continues.
