Well what can I say; I am in love with Rio.  A city of beaches, sky scrapers mixed with mountains in-between, what more could you want in a city.

After Felipe and I departed at the airport I got on the bus with my Danish friend Johan and we made our way to Copacabana, a particular popular spot for travellers, every heard of it?!  I immediately fell in love with Rio, just on the bus ride alone seeing the varsity of this city with all the sky scrapers situated right next to the beach and then looking up and ´oh there is Christ the Redeemer´, crazy.

We stayed in a hostel called Mellow Yellow, one that was recommended by Felipe who stayed there just a week before.  This was one cool hostel; it had the chill factor of the International Hostel in Salvador with the added bonuses of extremely friendly staff, good breakfast (once again consisting of that lovely chocolate cake) and the party atmosphere.  I have never met so many like minded lovely people as I have at this place, of course not as lovely as my friends back home.  Let me describe some of the characters for you.

Johan from Denmark:  I have to start off with this lovely chap.  Sweet as the chocolate cake they serve you for breakfast, one that you could easily mother, and that is coming from me.  The baby of the group at 21, I know not that much difference but hey I am 23 now I can say that.

Natalie from Israel:  Typical Israeli, I can say that in a good way.  Full of confidence, forth right and of course brilliant at negotiating a good price.  No offence meant guys!

Paul from Canada:  Brief encounter with this funny chap.  Met while I was gazing at the view from the Christ.  Amusing stories, especially of the one where he roamed onto the transvestite part of the beach and of course was centre of attention.  Good source of information.

Justin from the States:  Wonderful, very deep lad.  Met one early morning at the computers, while he was drawing a picture of his idea of a hostel boat (you had to be there), got on like a house on fire.  He spent most of his day writing down his life story, amazing what can happen to one guy at only 24.

Geoff from Quebec:  Nice guy, insisted on joining me to the centre on my second day.  Very sensitive though; I had to be honest.

Kelig from Pari:  Fabulous girl, airhostess from France.  Talked like we had known each other for years.

Haley another Canadian:  Good girl, funny one that I could relate to, talk mostly about her crazy relationships.  Could have had a really good laugh out on the town with her.

The Irish brothers, Glenn and Philip:  Absolutely hilarious, I have never laughed so much in all my life, I was crying for the whole night.  I met them on my last full night, I don't think the rest of the hostel was quite ready for them, I think they thought we were all a bit crackers.  You can always rely on the Irish to have a good laugh, best night so far just couldn't control myself.  We are going to try and meet up in Australia.

Kevin from UK and Cotham from Ireland:  Again lovely lads, spent the day with them when visiting the sugar loaf, good crack.

So as you can tell I have met many wonderful people, the best variety of people I have met in ages.  And the staff were a good laugh as well.  Now, let me continue with what I actually did, apart from crying with laughter, drinking a lot of beers and generally having a good time.
