My last day in Bali - Seems I have lived a whole life here
From Volume 2 of Globalchoirboy's adventures across the planet in Kuta, Indonesia on Mar 23 '07
I am writing from the free internet at the Kuala Lumpur airport. Such a brilliant place. There is a free movie section next door and next to that is an espresso/dessert bar. These people know how to take care of tourists.
Yesterday was a day of rain. It rained all the way from Lovina in the north to Ubud in the middle to Kuta in the south and then upon arrival it poured pretty much all evening.
One last meal of Nasi Goreng (Indonesian fried rice with shrimp crackers) and my current fave Iced lemon tea then a taxi to the airport.
I sadly said bye to my dear companion Uddin. He headed back to his home in Probolingo, Java.
What can I say about the days of airport transport. They go by in a haze of airline food, cattle calls, universally clean toilets that work, long stretches of walkways, officious looking officials officially perusing your passport and waiting and waiting and staring at other people waiting. And the tickle in the gut that I am going somewhere. Somewhere unknown.
