Our trip with Dragoman is in two sections split by a break at Victoria Falls in Western Zambia. The itinerary below is from the Dragoman website. Christmas Day is likely to be on the beaches of Lake Malawi or on the Nyika Plateau which is also in Malawi.

We're told there are internet cafes once a week or so so we'll post updates as we go.

It's tough, but someone's go to do it!

PART 1

1st - 12th Dec: Kenya & Northern Tanzania:

• Overland through Northern Tanzania via Arusha
• 5 days for optional wildlife safaris in Serengeti and Ngorongoro

13th - 14th Dec: Usambara Mountain Region:

• Lushoto, Wa-sambaa Villages and hiking in stunning mountains

15th - 21st Dec: Tanzania:

• 4 night stay on idyllic unspoilt Indian Ocean beach near Dar
• Transit through Mikumi NP en route to Malawi

22nd - 27th Dec: Malawi:

• 3 nights to kick back on the beaches of Lake Malawi
• 2 night stay on the stunning Nyika Plateau and visit to NP

28th Dec - 1st Jan: Eastern Zambia:

• 3 nights at the remote South Luangwa NP
• Overland through rural Zambia via Lusaka

2nd - 5th Jan: Western Zambia:

• 2 night stay at Livingstone to experience the amazing Vic Falls

PART 2

6th - 9th Jan: Zambia & Botswana:

• 2 night stay at Livingstone to experience the amazing Vic Falls
• Wildlife boat safari through Chobe NP, home to thousands of elephant
• Overland through Northern Chobe and the Caprivi Strip

10th - 13th Jan: Namibia & Botswana:

• Relaxing 2 night stay at Ngepi, stunning campsite on the Kavango River
• 2 night safari into Okavango Delta

14th - 20th Jan: Northern Namibia:

• Overnight at the beautiful N'kwazi Lodge on the Angolan border
• Visit to orphanage or school at a community project in northern Namibia
• Overnight bushcamp with Namibian bushmen
• Overland safari through Etosha NP with excellent wildlife
• 2 nights at Etosha campsites with excellent game viewing waterhole
• Meet cheetahs face to face at Otjitongwe Cheetah Reserve

21st - 25th Jan: Coastal Namibia:

• Camping in stunning Brandberg region to visit Twyfelfontein rock engravings
• Visit to the Skeleton Coast's Cape Cross seal colony
• Time to explore in the stunning landscape of Spitzkoppe
• 3 night stay in Swakopmund, Namibia's adrenaline city

26th - 29th Jan: Namibia's Namib Desert:

• Journey through the mountains, dunes and plains of the Namib Desert
• Explore the vast dunefields and climb dune 45 at Sossusvlei
• Overnight in Luderitz, a diamond mining community and port

Nights 30th Jan - 2nd Feb: Namibia & South Africa:

• Overnight stay at Fish River Canyon with time to explore
• Journey from Namibia to Cape Town
