Visit to a folk museum
From Autumn in the Land of the Morning Calm in Seoul, South Korea on Oct 04 '00
While I was in the hotel I learned from a Korean guest that a birthday party for a grandfather is a big affair and sometimes held in a posh hotel in Seoul.I struck a conversation with a lady guest wearing the traditional Korean attire who explained to me that her grandfather was celebrating a birthday. Rituals were held and clan members were there. Of course she did not invite me. It was exclusively for Koreans.
My first visit to a folk museum in Seoul exposed me the country's rich emperial culture. The dioramas vividly depicted how Koreans lived many centuries ago.I learned that they worship Nature including the mountains then. There was also an interactive learning Korean module with a touch screen. The phrases were splashed on the screen at the same time you'd learn how to say the words. Sa.rang.hameda; kamsa.ha.meda, the only Korean phases I speak can be seen on the touch screen at the museum.
