We arrived in Buenos Aires not really knowing what to expect. We knew that we were in for a treat when it came to fine food and wine, but the rest was pretty much new ground for us.

First night was spent in an area called San Telmo; a great place which has lots of traditional restaurants and some well known bars. We were glad we stayed here as it had as great bustling vibe. Obviously I was obliged to eat a steak - mighty fine it was too. We checked out a couple of places and settled for what seemed like a good local. A good start to our time in BA (I must confess that Gini had a pretty lousy chicken dish, but it is all about the steak yeah....?).

Having checked out of San Telmo, we moved towards the centre of town for our Christmas stay. Very different. We met met lots of friendly folk during our stay at the St Christopher's HI. Highlights that will stay with with us are:

- Bulmers beer bar: Has a nice terrace area wher you can sample lot´s of strong beer at very reasonable prices. Food looked good there too.

- San Telmo market on a Sunday: The market held on Sundays is renowned for its Tango. Great market if you are into antique watches and other ancient goods.

Oh no, poor Gini. Sethi and Henri said that they'll send you some chicken in the post!!!......Cristina said " Can you send me some steak in return?"
