Hola amigos,

¿Comó estas? Si, I am learning Spanish ... slowly, but not sure if surely ;-). Every morning  I am going  to  school. The class starts at 8:30 and ends at 12:30 and my teacher Marta doesn´t know any English, but for some reason she knows some German words. So my dictionary is my best friend, but somehow  we already had very good chats. I am not sure if she always gets what I am stuttering and I am guessing a lot, but we are laughing a lot :-). By the way, my next entry will be in fluent español (yeah, right).

Quito is an interesting City - the altitude is above 3000 meters (yeah, their measuring system is metric! - for all Americans: around 10,000 feet). On Monday I visited the "Old City" and while I was sitting on a bench at the Plaza de Grande, the tourist information approached  me  ...  Now I am a volunteer :-) ... Every afternoon I am going to the tourist information center and listen / talk to their students. There are 7 women / men who just learn English and they need to practice their English - I am not sure if I am the best choice, but they are happy and I am actually learning a lot about Quito (we went to four different churches so far and every time I have a personal tour guide for free :-) ...), about Ecuador and about the culture.

In between my classes I am learning Spanish like crazy ... but I really enjoying it :-) I met already very interesting people from around the world ... a guy from Vermont, another guy from Barcelona, Spain, a girl from Vancouver, Canada and now I am sharing my room with a guy from Copenhagen, Denmark.

I have really trouble to download pictures to this site ... as soon as I figure out what the problem is, I will provide pictures as well - I promise!
