Glacier Country
From New Zealand in Franz Josef Glacier, New Zealand on Dec 03 '06

We stopped off at Franz Joseph to walk to the glacier face and then headed down to Fox Glacier 30 minutes further south. Michelle took a walk to the Glacier while David and Bette took a helicopter ride over both glaciers and the West face of Mount Cook (New Zealand's highest mountain). It was an amazing view and we could even see two climbers approaching the summit of Mt Cook. They like us were looking down on the most amazing landscape.
No sooner had David stepped off the helicopter we were off to do a 12,000ft tandem sky dive over the glaciers.

Michelle's view:
It was my second time and I absolutely loved it! The view from the plane of the way up was wonderful and then the jump bit. This time I was more conscious of the whole 45 seconds of freefall (at 120mph) as you could hear the air rush past and see the cloud as you go through it. I fancy doing it again!
David's take:
Michelle had been going on about her skydive since we've been together so this was my chance to this what all the fuss was about. Strangely I didn't feel that nervous until the last few seconds before the jump and then the next five minutes were a complete blur. 45 seconds of sheer terror and then 4 minutes of stomach churning turns and spins before I had my feet safely back on terra firma. I'm glad I did it as it was an incredible experience and either I will leave it at that or I need another go so that I can take it all in next time. Watch this space.
