I have always been fascinated with the Stonehenge monuments even before we ever thought of travelling to England.  I've always wondered why they were built and who built them.  Unfortunately, these are questions that don't get answered even if you go to the site itself.

Stonehenge (plus Bath) is a very interesting day trip from London.  We booked a tour we found in the internet. The tour was very organized. We got picked-up right in front of the Hilton Metrepole and got dropped off a block from the hotel. The bus ride was fun because the guide was quite funny and very knowledgeable.  We got to see the country side of England.  Very beautiful.  At the monument site, we didn't get to approach the stones up close.   Apparently, people started writing graffittis so they put a rope barrier about 30 feet from the monuments.  I though we were still close enough, though, to admire the mystery.
