My first day in Rio was fairly uneventful but nice. I went for a walk on the world famous Copacabana beach, which was really nice, although unfortunately it seemed to be only the older hairy male population was out on the beach at that time so my first attempt to perve on latino men didnt go quite as well as I had hoped. Later on a guy me and my room mate (a Welsh lady named Justine) met at the bar took us for a bit of tour and showed us the best places to eat and the cheapest places to buy things. Its definately handy either knowing a local, or someone who has been in a place long enough to suss out it out well.

The next day I went on a boat tour, I hadnt planned on this tour but they were offering it for quite a good price for the ladies as apparently they usually have far more men than women that go. It was a really good afternoon out on the water. We stopped near an island and had a good view looking back towards Rio. There was a great Churrasco (Brazlian BBQ), plenty of drinking and lots of chatting away with other travellers. We then had the pleasure of watching the sunset over Rio. On returning to the hostel the drinking and talking with other hostellers continued well into the night, which was fantastic but it took some recovery time the next day!

Friday I was able to cross Chirst the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf mountains off my tourist to do list. They were both great things to go see. The view from both was fantastic, my poor little camera and my pathetic camera skills definately havent done it justice. It amazes me that there are soooo many people just sort of shoved on and around the bottom of these gorgeous mountains. Its definately different to lil ol Adelaide!

That night we went to a place called Lapa. Which is more or less the biggest party area in Rio. There was thousands of people, heaps of different clubs, music in the streets, lots of street vendors. It was a crazy crazy scene! A lot of fun though with lots of dancing and drinking.
