The day started off so nicely. We went to the Louvre and checked out all the sights. It is an incredible place, so huge that it would take days to see everything. We saw thousands of pieces, art, weapons, real mummies! We even stopped and gazed for a long while at the Mona Lisa. Photos of the paintings were not allowed, but we have many of the sculptures and several other artifacts. We got one of Amy and her favourite “Venus du milo”. A lot of people were sneaking photos and getting caught. No respect for the rules!

After the Louvre, we went home to the Hostel. The day started to go downhill when I was shaking the new bottle of salad dressing and the lid popped off, spewing dressing all over the room, me, and everything within about 5 feet of me. There were no forks or spoons or stabbing implements to eat with, so I ate salad with my hands.

Oopsy, driving was a stupid idea

After attempting to rinse off, we headed out to the airport to pick up our car. I was very excited until we accidentally drove it into the middle of Paris. I busted a U-turn and floored it for Geneva. Geneva took about 5 hours to get to, after circumnavigating half of France. It cost $75 in gas ($2 per litre), $70 for the tollways, and $75 for the car. In Geneva we got lost, so incredibly hopelessly lost that we didn’t know what to do. I was pondering parking and just sleeping in the car.

Around 1:00 AM we found a hostel. It was 33 euros each per night ($100+ total) but it would have to suffice.

After the Geneva experience and general driving woes, we decided that the car was going back, driving in Europe is for brave rich Europeans.
