I think that when you buy something in Switzerland, half the price (which we would normally pay) is goes towards what you are actually buying, and the other half goes towards the view. It's the only way to explain why my donair cost me 8SFs!!! But the view, well I guess it made it worth it, although I'm still bitter.

On route to Lucerne, we stopped in Zurich for a few hours. Not a whole lot to do in Zurich, but like I said, the view was something else. I don't think it really matters where in Switzerland you are, the view is going to be good. I was actually quite turned off by Zurich to begin with because we (Dave, his friend, and myself), came in through the industrial side of town. I thought to myself, "This isn't what the post cards look like!!". But as I soon found out, Zurich was about more than smoke stacks and factories -  it also had a lake, and of course, mountains. Zurich is known for its banks and bankers, and I almost felt out of place walking around in my shorts and t-shirt, and not a suit and tie.

Lucerne was also very beautiful, and I can say it's one of my favorite places I've been to. Again, lake and mountain (very typical is seems), but the city seems very small and welcoming. We got a great view walking along the old wall that used to guard the city, and it was then that I thought, "Lake, mountains, beer... I could live here". So long as the lake freezes over in the winter and they let me bring my skates, stick and a puck into the country.
