And we’re off! My parents are out of town for the weekend, so Jeff and his parents pick me up in the morning, and we head to his place for some breakfast\lunch before heading out to the airport. I realize that I have neglected to pack my glasses so we dash back to my house where I spend a few minutes looking but I can’t find them. Hoping I did pack them after all, we carry on. As it turns out, no I didn’t pack them and had to rely on my contacts the whole trip, which luckily wasn’t a problem. I did eventually find my glasses, albeit a week after I returned to Canada.

Anyways, our flight departs on schedule at 1:20 PM and 3 ½ hours later, we land in Toronto, where have an awesome 4 hour layover. We experience some horrid service at the Toronto Airport Swiss Chalet, but Jeff copes by spiking his coke with one of his whiskey samples. We browse the duty free shops and try some colognes – one called Le Male is particularly potent – we figure it’s the equivalent of Sex Panther (see Anchorman). I play a bit of Crowe’s DS but it decides to die on me, at which point I realize I forgot to pack the charger for it. One hour of fun and now I have a nice paperweight to carry the rest of the trip!

We fly British Airways to London, which is approximately 100 times better than Air Canada. Personal entertainment consoles, blankets, pillows, decent food, complimentary wine, and nice staff. All in all, a pleasant enough flight for 7 or so hours – I manage to get a couple hours sleep, which will just have to be enough because we are warping ahead in time – it’s noon local time when we land in London, and we only have one day to see the city!
