One of the best things about renting a car is getting off the main road and finding places you never would have seen from the bus. Well, Primosten was one of those hidden gems.
A small island-like location situated between Sibenik and Trogir on the Dalmatian Coast, Primosten is an unequivocally gorgeous city with a sensational backdrop. The only reason we got off the road to visit Primosten was because the city had a "Welcome to Primosten" sign on the road with a picture of the old town.

It was too good to pass up and we navigated the tiny streets to find a parking spot. Outside of the fortifications was a small rocky beach, apparently rated one of the ten best in Croatia (not so sure about that). I have a hard time believing any rocky beach can be in a top ten list.
Regardless, the stroll by the beach and its topless sunbathers was enjoyable, but the entrance to the old town was stunning. The town itself was quiet, especially for the high tourist season.

We walked up to the highest spot where the church was located for a breathtaking view of the bright blue Adriatic Sea. At the top of this hill was a cemetary next to the church, nearing the edge of the cliff...not a bad resting place.
The town is tiny, so soon after visiting the church we were back on the road to Split, thankful (for the first time) we rented a car and didn't miss this beautiful town.
