D-Day Beaches

The beaches of Normandy were amazing. We went to Omaha Beach first and walked through the center that all the info and pictures and video of the D-Day attack. We then walked out to the cemetery where over nine thousand American troops are buried overlooking Omaha Beach. It was powerful to see all the grave markers and look on the beach where thousands were killed. From there we went over to Arromanches to
see where there was a port constructed to bring in supplies from Britain and reclaim Europe. We left there and drove across France. The countryside is much different than the big city and the small towns and farms look exactly like Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers. Its incredible how rural it is out there. On our way to Switzerland we stopped off in Troyes and had dinner

amidst the half-timbered houses that they are famous for. The architecture seemed unreal, like we were
on a movie set or something. We stopped there for the night.
