English Town, Roman Wall, Viking Village
From The First Lap - 1995 in York, United Kingdom on Dec 07 '95
York had always appealed to me ever since reading about England many years ago. Rich in history, York has legacies from Roman, Viking, medieval and modern times. The Roman walls which circle the town must be one of the most complete roman structures anywhere. The Jorvik museum delves into the Viking history by reconstructing the Viking village that once settled here, including sights and smells! And let me tell you a Viking village doesn’t And the York Minster is one of the most beautiful churches in the world.
My Celtic mates from Paris lived in York so I caught up with them for a couple of nights. It was a good laugh and they showed me the sights.
And let me tell you a Viking village doesn’t smell too good!
There was so much to see and do in York I vowed to return someday.
