we stayed in a little sleepy town called Monte Gordo virtually as far east as the Algarve goes before you fall into Spain.
The area was very flat along the sea front, hence it was full of older Brit's overwintering. This gave the place a feeling of slow paced place. Similar to Eastbourne !
As quite as Eastborne.
We went for a quite winter break, this was ideal. we hired a car and drove west along the devils freeway.. take your life in your hands i was told. But I didn't find it that bad. We drove to Faro and a few other places along the Algarve coastline. Most little fishing towns and most very quaint.
We even took a ferry across the water to France for the day, to the village on the other side of the river. Just as quite, but 100% real Spain.
All in all a nice break, worth revisiting Algarve, but uneventfull.
