My bus took me into New York City for the third time... this time I actually had to get out onto the streets. I walked like seven blocks in the rain from the bus terminal to Penn Station to get my train. I couldn´t resist turning around to get a quick look at Times Square.

The train took me to Baltimore Airport, where Bev (family friend) and her beagle Annabel met me. We headed for home, stopping for lunch on the way, and then out again to the centre of Frederick. We had a quick look at the Historical Society which was an interesting old building which used to be an orphanage. Next stop was the Civil War Medicine Museum. Frederick is close to three major civil war battlefields so was a centre for treating injured soldiers from both sides. It was interesting and the geeky man who gave us a talk was great.

We wandered through a cute little art gallery and a little around the streets, then met Frank for dinner at a brewery (of course I tried their beer and it was fabulous) and went home.

The next day Bev and I went with her friend Annemarie to Antietam, the battlefield which saw the bloodiest single day of the Civil War. Wow was it cold. We did a Segway tour which was fun but I think we were all concentrating a bit too much on not doing ourselves damage to see much of the scenery! It was great though. We had a meal at nearby Sharpsburg and defrosted before heading to Gettysburg PA. Of course it is a lot more touristy but interesting and has a great new museum. Here we had an audio tour which we did in the car. The battlefields are really vast.

By now we deserved the meal at home - cornbread and chili, so good.

In the morning we took the dog for a walk, then Bev drove me to my next stop.
