Parasailing over sharks

My first trip off the continent - first with a passport. Flew from San Francisco to Miami and stayed at the Fountainbleu for three days. Then on to Nassau. Having just seen "Jaws" in the theater, I was not amused when Dave disappeared under water and hid behind a pier to make me think he'd been eaten by sharks. A few days later while I was snorkeling, some guys drove a boat past me and told me there were sharks in the water. I was scared until I realized they would have picked me up if they weren't joking. They did the same thing while I was parasailing. It was so long ago, I don't remember much about the trip, except a Goombay summer beach party one night when we all danced to the live music of a band that included steel drums. I thought it was the happiest sound ever and inspired me to learn to play them 25 years later.
